Air Conditioning Repair & Installation in Homer Glen, IL

Warm air, short cycles and an iced coil on a July night

When an air conditioner quits, it rarely does it politely. The usual calls are warm air from the vents, a system that starts and stops every few minutes, a coil that frosts over until the airflow dies, or an outdoor unit that hums and never turns its fan. Each symptom points at a different part, which is why a careful diagnosis beats a quick guess. Climaxx works on homes and small commercial buildings around Homer Glen, Orland Park, Tinley Park and Mokena.

A tech starts with the failures that cause most breakdowns: the run capacitor, the contactor, the refrigerant charge, a dirty evaporator coil and a plugged condensate drain. A clogged filter can freeze a coil all by itself, and a tired capacitor can keep a compressor from starting. Checking these in order is how a repair stays a repair instead of growing into a bigger job than it needed to be.

Summer failures do not keep office hours, and neither does Climaxx. The line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at (708) 717-2772. One customer wrote that they came home late on a Sunday night to no AC, called Justin, and he was out in less than 30 minutes. Call, describe what the unit is doing, and we will tell you what we can do and when.

How we work: repair first, replace only when it pays

Climaxx offers four things on air conditioning: maintenance, repairs, installation and sales. Maintenance is the quiet one that prevents the other three. Cleaning the coil, checking the charge, testing the capacitor and clearing the drain before the first hot week is how a system gets through July without a midnight call. Homeowners in Frankfort, Lockport and New Lenox are best off booking it in spring, before the unit has to prove itself.

Repair comes before replacement here. A customer who called on a Saturday wrote that Justin came out within hours and “didn’t try to sell me on replacing the entire unit just to make money.” That is the standard we hold ourselves to. If a part solves the problem and the system has years left, we fix the part. If the compressor is gone on an old unit, we say so plainly and walk you through the options.

When replacement is the right call, the installation is done start to finish: sizing the condenser and coil to the house, setting the pad level, running the line set, then checking charge and airflow before we leave. A customer wrote that Climaxx installed a new furnace and A/C quickly and with no issues. If you are weighing new equipment, ask about the air conditioners we sell when you call.

SEER explained, and when a new unit pays for itself

Air conditioners come in SEER ratings ranging from 13 up into the 20s. SEER stands for seasonal energy efficiency ratio, and the higher the number, the more efficient the unit. Think of it like miles per gallon for your house: the same cooling, with less electricity going in. When you read a spec sheet or a quote, the SEER number is the quickest way to compare two systems on running cost rather than sticker alone.

The gap between ratings is bigger than it looks. If you compare a 10 SEER air conditioner to a 20 SEER system, the 20 SEER system provides twice the efficiency. A house that runs its AC from June through September feels that difference on every utility bill. An older unit in the yard may well be at the low end of that scale, and that is worth knowing before the next repair call.

So when does replacement pay? When repairs start stacking up, when the unit is old and low on the SEER scale, or when it can no longer hold a room at temperature on a hot afternoon. It should never be a hunch. Climaxx will look at the system and tell you whether a repair or a new unit makes sense, and we will say so even when the answer is repair.
